How it works

Self-service rentals in three steps — no staff, no lines.

Guests handle the whole rental themselves at the locker bank or on their phone, so gates keep moving and staff stay on higher-value work.

1

Pick a locker & pay

Guests choose a locker size at the touchscreen console or scan a QR code, then pay with credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. No app to download.

2

Stow & enjoy the event

Bags, jackets, and prohibited items go in; the door locks. Guests can re-open their locker during the event whenever they need something.

3

Grab & go — locker auto-frees

At the end of the visit, guests collect their items and the locker returns to the pool for the next rental — no attendant, no key returns.

See it in action

Watch a guest rent a locker from their phone.

This is Smiota's real self-service booking flow, as deployed at Sphere Las Vegas: a guest picks a plan and a door, pays by credit card, and gets their locker PIN instantly — all from their own phone.

1

Pick a plan & door

Guests choose a session and a right-sized door from a live map of your locker banks — on the kiosk or from their phone.

2

Pay by card

Credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay — processed on the spot with your pricing. No app, no account, no attendant.

3

PIN issued instantly

The door is reserved and a PIN is generated immediately — the guest stows their items and heads into the event.

The business model

Own the lockers. Keep the revenue.

Most locker operators install "free" hardware, then take a share of every rental — forever. Smiota owns the full hardware and payment stack, so we can offer the model operators can't: you own the asset and keep what it earns.

The Smiota way

Buy or lease-to-own

  • Every rental dollar is yours — no perpetual revenue share
  • You set pricing per event, day, or hour from the dashboard
  • Integrated payments: credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay
  • Real-time occupancy & revenue reporting per bank and per event
  • At event scale, the lockers pay for themselves — then keep earning
Revenue-share operators

"Free" hardware, forever fees

  • A cut of every rental goes to the operator — indefinitely
  • Pricing and guest experience controlled by someone else
  • Your foot traffic, their recurring revenue
  • Limited visibility into utilization and earnings

FAQ

Rental smart lockers, answered.

How do guests rent a locker?

They walk up to the touchscreen console (or scan a QR code), pick a locker size, and pay with a credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. The door opens, they stow their items, and they can re-open the locker during their visit. No app download or account required.

Who keeps the rental revenue?

You do. Smiota sells or leases the lockers to the venue — we don't take a share of each rental. That's different from revenue-share operators, who install hardware "free" and then take a cut of every transaction indefinitely.

Can we change pricing for different events?

Yes. Rates are set from the cloud dashboard per event, per day, or per hour — so a concert night, a matinee, and an off-day can each have their own pricing.

Do rental lockers work outdoors?

Yes. Smiota builds weather-resistant outdoor banks for gates, plazas, and queues, alongside heavy-gauge steel indoor units for concourses and lobbies. Both support ADA-compliant door mixes.

How do they help with clear-bag policies?

Fans arriving with prohibited bags or items don't have to walk back to their car or abandon belongings at the gate — they rent a locker in seconds and head inside. Security keeps its policy; guests keep their stuff; gates keep moving.

Where are Smiota rental lockers deployed today?

Smiota runs rental smart-locker systems at venues including Sphere in Las Vegas (321 doors) and Rogers Arena in Vancouver (103 doors), alongside 100+ installations across offices, campuses, and communities.
